An example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture, dating to 1898. It was Lexington's fifth courthouse. Next door to the courthouse is the First National Building. This fifteen story skyscraper was the tallest building between Cincinnati and Atlanta when completed in 1914. It remained the tallest building in Lexington for nearly 60 years.
