From hero in 2007, where I won this event, to zero in 2008 when an engine failure in my race car left me in a non track prep'd MX5 and finishing last some 5 seconds off the pace. The car had just been stripped, cage and safety gear fitted and suspension components bolted on. No work to the engine and no geo setup it was always going to be an interesting drive. The engine was known to be down on power (as no mods done) and it had a slipping clutch but hey, it was a drive and I was grateful for it. Handling in the wet was extremely unpredictable, understeer one second, oversteer the next, traction was a big problem, as was stability on fast corners, I was having to catch slides at Woodcote at around 80mph. Got off the grid well and was leading at Copse & Becketts but soon fell back, really struggling through Brroklands (Huge Slide) and Luffield.
